Several weeks ago I was happy to be a part of the Iowa virtual Summer Reading Program showcase. This week I'm excited to be featured in the South Dakota virtual showcase. Traditionally, I haven't performed at too many South Dakota libraries and I'm grateful for the opportunity to get some exposure to libraries in that state. This past week, I've been contacted by people from two Kansas regional systems asking if I'd be interested in being a part of their regional showcases. My answer was a resounding "YES!" It looks like this will be a little different, though. I'll be recording my segment through Zoom in December, and it will be released to libraries in January. So, look for me to be a part of the showcases for the Southeast Kansas region and the South Central Kansas region. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that other regions might be interested, too.
To go along with the showcases, I'm also beginning to mail promotional material to libraries across the region. If you're in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota or North Dakota, you will be receiving something in the mail from me soon. Kansas libraries will probably get something early in January to pair with the release of their showcase.
I've found that I usually start getting an increase in Summer Reading Program bookings in November. However, 2020 is such an unusual year, so I don't know what to expect. I'm sure some libraries don't really have a clear vision of what they're going to be doing yet next summer.
Here's hoping that 2021 is the year we start to get back to normal!
