As many of you know, I am a BIG proponent of reading! I certainly wouldn't be doing what I do today if it weren't for the deep love of reading that I've had since I was a child. I'm sure you've noticed that I tend to incorporate messages about reading and using the library during my Summer Reading Program shows.
But it doesn't end there.
During the school year, I offer a variety of themed assemblies to elementary schools. One of these assemblies is "The Magic of Reading." Each trick in the assembly has something to do with reading. I even bring out a copy of the very first magic book I ever read, "Dunningers Complete Encyclopedia of Magic." Then I tell students that the books they read now will stay with them throughout their life, as I perform a trick from that book. The Grand Finale of the assembly comes when a student becomes the magician and performs an amazing trick with a 12-foot long wand.
Read Across America is just around the corner and I've already booked this assembly at several schools. If your library is looking for a great reading program outside of the traditional Summer Reading Program time frame, you may want to consider having my "Magic Of Reading" show. It's a lot of fun and great entertainment for all ages.
