A Very Busy Day.
Happy Valentine's Day, Everybody!
It has been an incredibly, wonderfully busy day for me. My alarm rang at 5 a.m. Usually when my alarm goes off that early, it means that I have to do a 9 a.m. show at a school 100 miles away that day.
Not today though.
Today I had to be at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce at 7:15 to receive the "Small Business of the Month Award." When I walked into the meeting room, I didn't know what to expect. In my imagination I thought there might be a dozen or so people there all sitting around a long table. I was wrong. There were about 60 business leaders. These are the movers and shakers in the Omaha Business world. And, as fate would have it, the Governor of Nebraska, Dave Heineman was also there this morning. My part of the meeting was at the beginning, so I accepted my award, made a short speech and (of course) did a trick for some of Omaha's top business executives.
Then my wife and I went out for a nice breakfast. I can't recall the last time we did that. It was a nice way to start Valentine's Day. After that, she bought me a present for my upcoming birthday, two tickets to see a concert which is really going to take me for a trip down Memory Lane. It was the second concert I ever went to. I don't think I'll mention who it is because first of all, it would give my age away and secondly, you'd probably think I was and incredible geek for wanting to see this performer.
This afternoon, we went to see my daughter and her Show Choir perform. They have such tremendous voices. It's inspiring to see how far my daughter has come in Show Choir and how different Jr. High Show Choir is from High School Show Choir.
Finally, tonight my wife and I have no real plans. However it IS our anniversary. It's still undecided as to whether we'll go out for dinner or snuggle up on the couch with pizza and a rented movie. Either way would be wonderful for me. As long as we're togeher.
So, yes, it's been a great day. And everything about this great day has reminded me that I also have a great life.
