Today I booked by 105th Summer Reading Program show for this summer! I've never broken the "100 show" mark before and it feels a little intimidating. I have a feeling that August Jeff is going to be hating March Jeff for booking all of these shows.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE performing for libraries, but the endless hours on the road and nights spent in hotels takes a toll. Fortunately, this summer, my wife will be joining me on a couple of my out of town mini-tours. She'll be with me on our trip to western Nebraska, South Dakota and eastern Wyoming. She's also going to join me in Wisconsin. The library magic shows I'm doing in Wisconsin are strategically planned to go along with our attending the Society of American Magician's Convention in Appleton, Wisconsin. Appleton was chosen for this convention because it's the boyhood home of Harry Houdini and 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Houdini's death.
As a Past National President of the Society of American Magicians, I've been asked to coordinate an amazing event as part of the convention. Hundreds of magicians are going to set a new world record by performing an escape at the same time. It's going to be amazing! So, between May 22nd and August 8th, I'll be performing 105 Summer Reading Program shows, about a dozen preschool and daycares, 6 fairs and festivals, attending a magic convention AND helping to set a new world record.
After that, I get a few weeks off before doing a few more fairs and festivals and then starting my annual two month residency at Vala's Pumpkin Patch in Gretna, Nebraska. It's going to be a busy, but fun summer and it all starts in less than two weeks!
