Remember when we were under the impression that COVID-19 would be gone by Easter? Then the thought was that the summer heat would make it go away. Now I've heard that even if we get a vaccine in the next month or two, it may take until the summer before things are back to something resembling normal. In other words, we don't know what the 2021 Summer Reading Program is going to look like.
So, I thought I'd take this opportunity to let you know what my backup plans look like.
IF we find ourselves in a situation where gatherings are allowed, but social distancing is recommended, I can tweak my Summer Reading Program shows so that there are no volunteers in close proximity to me. There would still be lots of audience interaction and participation, but it would just be from a distance. Since mid September, I've been performing this type of show at Vala's Pumpkin Patch and it's worked out beautifully.
IF there's a worst-case scenario and we need to do a virtual online magic show, I can certainly do that. Being forced to do it this past summer was a terrific learning experience for me. I'm fully confident I can deliver another great, pre-recorded, personalized Summer Reading Program magic show for you.
Finally, if you book a show with me and need to cancel due to COVID-19, there are no cancellation fees or anything like that. So, please don't be afraid to book my show early for fear of having to cancel it.
So, those are my contingency plans, but as for right now, I'm keeping an optimistic outlook and planning for a great IN PERSON Summer Reading Program magic show!
